Adobe Reader X is Essential for Mobile Device Users

By Sean Ditch

Whether you use an iOS, Android, or Windows-based operating system (OS) on your mobile device or smartphone, you may or may not be already equipped with a default program that will allow you to access and read PDFs. This depends on your device, OS, and manufacturer. PDFs, or Portable Document Format, are the industry standard for clean and secure documents. Adding the Adobe Reader App to your tablet or smartphone is a good move because it offers you options exclusive to the software.

Adobe Reader X provides an interface that allows users to quickly open PDF files. That is unremarkable, of course, and is where the similarities with generic PDF readers end. Adobe Reader features "Reflow" which essentially allows the user to resize the information to fit onto the screen of their mobile device. This feature makes PDFs much easier to read as you can simply scroll through the document instead of having to resize text and move left-to-right around on the page. If you don't like the reflow view, you can still revert to the default view.

Adobe Reader allows you to view PDF portfolios, password-protected PDF files, annotations, and search the text of a PDF to find specific information. It also offers the option to bookmark sections of a PDF and integrates with your default browser and Email client for full internet functionality. You can provide feedback using the on board tools such as sticky notes or the text-based editing options such as highlight, strike-through, and underline. You can even sign documents electronically.

Available in 16 languages and free to use, Adobe Reader should be one of the first apps to consider if you deal with PDF files. If you're looking for functionality and style in a PDF reader, Adobe Reader X Provides it.
